What is the TSA?
If you’re new to flying, or need a refresher, the “TSA” stands for Transportation Security Administration”. In other words, the TSA is there to keep everyone safe before, and during airtime. The TSA can be found right before the doors leading to your gate to board.
It is a requirement to pass the TSA checkpoint before flights. Thankfully, you only have to do this one time. However, you may want to check with your airport before arriving. Some airports will require two TSA checkpoints.
TSA Checkpoints Dos and Don’ts in 2025
If you haven’t flown in awhile, or are taking your first flight, you’ll want to consider these tips.
- Arrive early – It’s better to be early, than to arrive too late. Be sure to head to the airport 2 hours before your flight. This can help you move quicker through the TSA line, and stay on-time with takeoff.
- Be Understanding – Most TSA agents are helpful, kind, and courteous. But, there are some agents that may come across as closed-off, disinterested, or uptight. Keep in mind that many TSA agents work long shfits, don’t get alot of rest, and may be exhausted. Give them a kind smile, and go about the TSA screening process.
- Be Kind – Most TSAs just want to do their job the right way. They aren’t out to get you or make travel a living hell. If there is an issue with your items, work with the TSA to resolve it. You’ll find being considerate gets you much farther than trying to rebel.
- Tweet @askTSA – If you have a question before your flight, you can send a tweet to @askTSA on Twitter. Or, text them at “275-872”.
